SIMAD Literacy Day In Conjunction With World Literacy Day!

SIMAD University Library, is strongly committed to promoting education and knowledge. This was clearly shown during the Literacy Day celebration held on September 9, 2024. The event aimed to encourage young people to develop a love for reading and writing, while also strengthening the link between education and the community.

Event Overview:

The main goal of Literacy Day was to highlight the importance of reading and writing and to raise awareness about how education can shape the future of young people. The event focused on inspiring students to see reading and writing as valuable tools for personal and intellectual growth, and also aimed to involve the community in programs that support learning and knowledge-sharing.

The event included a number of engaging activities, such as:

  • Book Recommendation Session: A key part of the event was a session led by Prof. Cabdalla Cumar Mansuur, who shared helpful advice on how to choose the right books to read. In today’s world, where there are many books available, Prof. Cabdalla gave useful tips on selecting books that can truly help with personal growth.
  • Inspirational Speeches: Esteemed guests delivered motivational speeches, sharing their experiences and thoughts on the importance of reading and learning.

Prof. Cabdalla shared his deep knowledge of the Somali language, while Shukri inspired the audience with her experiences in healthcare and community work.

The event was open to everyone and attracted around 100 participants, including students, staff from private organizations, and government representatives. This strong turnout showed how important literacy is and how it affects different parts of society.
